Lady Heyes Touring Caravan Park – Frodsham – Cheshire

Situated about 2 miles from Frodsham, the Lady Heyes site appears to be a new
venture. Offering approximately 80 pitches for touring caravans. Online booking with a pick your pitch was a nice touch, you can also pay using PayPal… is that a good addition??

The staff on the phone very helpful- in person not quiet the same, but we got by.

Security was via an electronic barrier, and a £10 deposit was required. The site manager also lives on site; we didn’t have cause to call him for help. But I am sure that he would help anyone in trouble.

The site is all hard standing so you will need special pegs to secure your awning, we didn’t even try! Water electricity is available very close to your chosen pitch, each pitch shares two taps, and electricity some even have drainage. We use orange mobile phones, and the service was excellent . Mobile broadband was courtesy of our ‘Three’ account and again that was very good reception.

Pitches are not to close and once the trees have matured the site will be nestled nicely on the edge of the hill. Access both with the caravan and without was good, and the one way system helped with this.

The facilities are very good, no fee for the showers (just a press button) the temperature is preset, but both my wife and I found it acceptable. The shower cubicles are long and provide hooks for your clothes and towels, and place for your toiletries’ would have been a nice touch, but we managed without, and our clothes remained dry.

We stayed from Tuesday until Thursday, on arrival the site was not busy, but Wednesday saw more caravans arriving, Thursday again this was noticeable. So I would expect that at weekends the site would be buzzing.

The facilities and the site were always clean tidy and with little noise. We did find that the site is on one of the flight paths for Liverpool airport, so we did notice the airplanes but after a while they faded into the distance.

Attractions on site include brewery, an antiques area, tearoom, sweet shop, and a bistro. We didn’t use the bistro as we visited midweek. You also have to visit the candle shop, because it was owned by Bob Carolgee’s………we never saw Spit the dog..well except for the pictures around the shop.

Frodsham is fewer than 2 miles away, and a well-stocked Morrison’s supermarket, nice looking Chinese restaurant. Half a mile away towards Frodsham we found a nice pub that offered very good food and beers including a beer takeaway service. Just wish we could
remember the name!

Overall score would be 8 out of 10, and a recommendation that we will return.
